Govt, PPP agree on June 10 for FY2026-27 budget presentation
Sindh development, water sector projects, PSDP priorities, revenue projections discussed as coalition consultations continue before final budget approval

The federal government and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) have agreed to recommend to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif that the federal budget for fiscal year 2026-27 be presented on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, following pre-budget consultations in Islamabad.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb and senior PPP leaders.
According to a statement issued by the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office, both sides unanimously agreed to recommend June 10 as the date for the budget announcement.
The consultation was held as part of the government’s discussions with coalition partners before the federal budget is finalised.
The discussions focused on current expenditure and development spending priorities, including the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP), as well as broader economic priorities such as fiscal sustainability, public welfare measures, development initiatives, and inclusive growth for the fiscal year 2026–2027.
According to sources, ongoing and proposed development schemes were discussed in detail, with focus on fiscal sustainability, public welfare measures and inclusive economic growth for FY2026-27.
Officials said issues related to Sindh’s development and water sector projects were also taken up during the meeting.
Finance Secretary Imdadullah Bosal and Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Rashid Mahmood Langrial briefed participants on budgetary matters, revenue projections and fiscal planning.
The briefing also covered the government’s economic strategy for FY2026-27, along with development and macroeconomic stability targets.
The meeting was attended by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, MNA Syed Naveed Qamar, Senator Sherry Rehman, Senator Saleem Mandviwala and Sindh Irrigation Minister Jam Khan Shoro.
Minister of State for Finance and Railways Bilal Azhar Kayani, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa and senior officials from relevant ministries and departments also attended the meeting.
Both sides agreed to continue consultations with allied parties as the budget preparation process enters its final phase.
Sources said public welfare, development initiatives and economic stability remain among the central priorities of the upcoming federal budget.
