ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb on Wednesday laid before the National Assembly the Appropriation Accounts of the Government of Pakistan for FY2024-25 and audit reports relating to the accounts of the Federation for Audit Year 2025-26.
The audit reports of the Auditor-General of Pakistan were presented in accordance with Article 171 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
According to the Finance Division, this is the first time audit reports have been laid before Parliament within the same financial year to which the audit cycle relates.
Speaking on the occasion, the finance minister said timely audit reporting improves transparency, accountability and legislative oversight of public finances. He said it also enables Parliament to review audit observations while they remain current and actionable.
Aurangzeb also appreciated the Auditor-General of Pakistan and his team for completing the process within the revised timeline.
The Finance Division said another feature of this year’s exercise was the digital sharing of audit reports with Parliament for the first time. The move allowed members to access the reports electronically and supported the shift towards a paperless parliamentary process.
It said the practice would continue in future as part of efforts to promote digital governance and improve access to public accountability information.
The timely submission and digital dissemination of the audit reports are aimed at strengthening public financial accountability and Parliament’s oversight of public resources.
