Pakistan’s petroleum imports cross 16 million tonnes in 11 months
Crude oil makes up around 60% of July-May imports at 9.7 million tonnes, while petrol shipments exceed 5 million tonnes

Pakistan imported 16.1 million tonnes of crude oil and refined petroleum products during the first 11 months of FY2025-26, as the country continued to rely on overseas supplies to meet refinery and fuel demand.
According to oil sector data for July-May, crude oil remained the largest import item at around 9.7 million tonnes, making up nearly 60% of total petroleum import volumes.
Crude shipments were mainly handled through Keamari and the Single Point Mooring (SPM), which remained the key facilities for unloading cargoes for local refineries.
Motor gasoline was the second-largest imported petroleum product, with combined imports of 92 RON, 95 RON and 97 RON grades crossing 5 million tonnes during the period.
Imports of 92 RON petrol stood at around 4.8 million tonnes, reflecting continued domestic demand despite supplies from local refineries.
Premium grades, including 95 RON and 97 RON, were also imported to meet demand from higher-end vehicle segments.
High-speed diesel imports stood at about 1.26 million tonnes during the review period.
Diesel demand remained linked to the transport, industrial and agriculture sectors, while monthly import volumes varied due to seasonal consumption and refinery output.
Pakistan also imported more than 124,000 tonnes of JP-1 aviation fuel to meet aviation sector requirements.
The data showed that monthly petroleum import volumes changed during the period due to refinery maintenance, inventory management and procurement decisions by oil marketing companies.
Crude oil imports remained relatively steady as refineries maintained feedstock supplies, while refined product imports were adjusted according to domestic demand and stock levels.
