NCCIA Punjab sets up dedicated cell for cybercrime cases involving women, children

The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) Punjab has set up a dedicated cell for prompt registration, investigation and prosecution of cybercrime cases involving women and children.

NCCIA Punjab Director Muhammad Ali Wasim said the initiative was aimed at providing expedited legal assistance, protection and institutional support to women and children.

He said the specialised cell would ensure that complaints involving women and minors are investigated without delay.

According to Wasim, cases of online harassment, cyberstalking, blackmail, digital exploitation, identity theft, misuse or circulation of private photographs and videos, and other technology-enabled offences against women and minors will be processed through the new unit.

He said all such cases would remain under the direct supervision of a deputy director to ensure monitoring, swift investigation and coordination.

Wasim said the arrangement would help the agency respond more efficiently to victims and pursue legal action against offenders.

“We have adopted a zero-tolerance policy against individuals involved in cyber offences. Those found involved in such crimes would face strict legal action in accordance with the law,” he said.
