NAB hands over four confiscated properties worth Rs348 million to Ministry of Housing

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has handed over four confiscated properties worth Rs348 million to the Directorate General of Estate, Ministry of Housing and Works.

According to a NAB spokesperson, the properties were seized from convicted accused Abdul Aziz, a former member of the National Assembly, and his wife in a corruption and assets beyond known sources of income case.

An accountability court in Karachi had sentenced both individuals on June 28, 2002, to seven years’ rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs1 million each. The court had also ordered the confiscation of four properties owned by the convicts.

Their appeals were later dismissed by the Sindh High Court and the Supreme Court.

The properties include a residential house in DHA Phase V Extension and three plots in KDA Scheme A-1 Extension and Hawke’s Bay Scheme 42 under the Lyari Development Authority.

At a ceremony held at NAB Karachi on July 6, 2026, DG NAB Karachi Shakeel Ahmed Durrani handed over possession of the properties to DG Estate Obaiduddin.

Durrani said NAB would continue efforts to recover looted assets and return them to affected departments and individuals under the leadership of NAB Chairman Lieutenant General (retd) Nazir Ahmed.
