Pakistan’s mobile phone assembly falls 7% to 11.17 million units in 5M2026
PTA data shows May assembly rose 10% MoM to 2 million units, imports fell 14% to 0.32 million, total supply increased 6% to 2.32 million, while local production met 86% of demand

Pakistan’s local mobile phone manufacturing and assembly increased 10% month-on-month in May 2026, with companies producing 2 million units compared to 1.81 million units in April, according to PTA data cited by Topline Securities.
Total mobile phone supply, including imports and locally assembled units, stood at 2.32 million units in May, up 6% from 2.18 million units in April. Imports fell 14% month-on-month to 0.32 million units from 0.37 million units.
Local assembly met 86% of Pakistan’s mobile phone demand in May, compared to 83% in April. During the first five months of 2026, local manufacturing fulfilled 85% of total demand.
However, cumulative local manufacturing declined 7% year-on-year to 11.17 million units in 5M2026 from 12.05 million units in the same period last year. Overall mobile phone supply rose 2% year-on-year to 13.08 million units, while imports increased 151% to 1.91 million units.
Brand-wise, production of VGO Tel, Tecno and Samsung phones increased by 29%, 24% and 7% year-on-year, respectively, during 5M2026. Production of Vivo, Itel and Infinix declined by 30%, 29% and 19%, respectively.
Topline Securities said a year-on-year comparison for May 2026 could not be made because April and May 2025 numbers were published on a cumulative basis.
