Air Link plugs into Pakistan’s EV market with AirV bike plant

LAHORE: From smartphones and consumer electronics to electric mobility, Air Link Communication Limited on Thursday announced to diversify its manufacturing business with the launch of an electric bike project under its own brand, AirV.

The company will establish an advanced assembly plant at its manufacturing facility in the Sundar Green Special Economic Zone in Lahore, targeting growing demand for electric vehicles in Pakistan.

“The Board of Directors of Air Link Communication Limited, in its meeting held on July 23, 2026, has approved the establishment of an electric bike manufacturing project under the Company’s own brand, AirV,” read the disclosure sent to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX).

Air Link said the project was part of its long-term strategy to diversify its manufacturing portfolio and tap growing demand for electric vehicles in Pakistan. 

Its board has authorised management to complete the regulatory, commercial and operational requirements for the venture.

Following the announcement of its electric bike venture, Air Link’s share price rose 2.10% to Rs135.43 at the PSX by 3:50 pm on Thursday.

The disclosure did not specify the project’s investment value, production capacity or expected commencement date.

The electric bike venture builds on Air Link’s wider expansion at the Sundar Green Special Economic Zone.

In September 2025, the company announced plans to establish a production facility spread over eight acres, with around 1.4 million square feet of purpose-built infrastructure.

Air Link owns three acres of the site, while the remaining five acres are owned by its wholly owned subsidiary, Select Technologies (Pvt.) Limited.

The facility was designed to include a one-megawatt solar power generation system to reduce energy costs, lower emissions and support sustainable operations. 

The company said at that time that the facility would support the potential export of mobile phones, laptops, LED televisions, electronics, home appliances and other technology products manufactured in Pakistan for international brands.

Air Link has also expanded its retail network by opening a Samsung MultiExperience Store at Dolmen Mall, Lahore. The outlet offers Samsung mobile phones, accessories and consumer electronics at a single location.

Air Link Communication (Pvt.) Limited was incorporated as a private company on January 2, 2014, under the repealed Companies Ordinance, 1984, and was converted into a public limited company on April 24, 2019.

The company is involved in the import, export, distribution, indenting, wholesale and retail of communication and information technology products and services, including mobile phones, smartphones, tablets, laptops, accessories and related products.
