Rs 50 commemorative coin released by SBP to honour late Abdul Sattar Edhi

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Friday officially unveiled a commemorative Rs 50 coin to honour the humanitarian services of late Abdul Sattar Edhi.

Governor State Bank, Ashraf Mahmood Wathra, presented the commemorative coin to Faisal Edhi, Abdul Sattar Edhi’s son.

Governor SBP while paying tribute late Abdul Sattar Edhi said that Pakistan had only

issued  five

commemorative coins in honour of great personalities such as  Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah,  Allama Muhammed Iqbal, Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah, Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, and now Abdus Sattar Edhi.

Speaking at the event, Faisal Edhi expressed gratitude to the Pakistani government and SBP

and  stated

that he intended to continue the mission of his father and urged that the public to help to take this philanthropic mission forward.

The decision to issue the commemorative coin was taken on March 28, by the federal government, following a cabinet meeting held on July 15, 2016.

The coin can be purchased from exchange counters of SBP Banking Services Corporation’s 16 branches nationwide.
