Summary forwarded to PM for restructuring USC board of directors

ISLAMABAD: Ministry of Industries and Production has sent a summary to Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi for revamping the Board of Directors of Utility Stores Corporation (USC).

Ministry of Industries and Production sources said in the summary that the sitting board of directors are interfering immensely in the administrative affairs of the USC therefore, they are facing difficulties in minimising the deficit of the corporation.

The summary further said that the board’s interference in the administrative matters has increased enormously and former managing director of the corporation was also transferred in the wake of this situation. The board is putting its personal interests first rather than focusing on scaling down the deficit of USC, the summary added. Therefore the board should be dissolved forthwith and a new board be constituted.

The USC employees union a few days earlier had pinned the responsibility of the losses of the corporation on the board and demanded that the board be disbanded immediately and a new board be set up under Industries and Production secretary.

The employees union has given a call for protest demonstration outside Islamabad Press Club from January 15.
