Customs Peshawar seizes smuggled goods, vehicles worth Rs1.16 billion

The Collectorate of Customs (Enforcement), Peshawar, has seized smuggled goods and non-duty-paid vehicles worth around Rs1.163 billion during anti-smuggling operations carried out over the past two weeks.

According to Pakistan Customs, the operations were conducted through intelligence-based action, increased surveillance, and field enforcement across the region.

The Collectorate said its teams intercepted several consignments during the reporting period, including 6,330 kilograms of cellulose acetate tow concealed inside a container that had been falsely declared as carrying household articles.

Customs officials also recovered 4,052 kilograms of assorted ladies’ and gents’ clothes from a Bedford truck.

In another operation, 7,380 sleeves of cigarettes and 1,100 kilograms of Gold Gutka were seized from a separate Bedford truck.

A large consignment of foreign-origin and non-duty-paid food items was also recovered from an Isuzu truck intercepted at Thakot in Hazara.

In addition to the seized goods, Pakistan Customs also impounded three luxury non-duty-paid vehicles with an estimated market value of approximately Rs25.5 million.

The Collectorate said the operations were part of its continuing campaign against smuggling and non-duty-paid goods.

Pakistan Customs said it would continue intelligence-led enforcement, risk management measures and border vigilance to prevent smuggling, protect government revenue and support lawful trade.

The Collectorate of Customs (Enforcement), Peshawar, said it would keep strengthening enforcement action against smuggling networks in accordance with the law.
