Facebook to classify all new videos as Reels

Facebook will remove length and format restrictions for Reels, allowing users to upload short, long, and live videos under the same format

Meta said Tuesday it will begin classifying all new videos uploaded to Facebook as Reels, as part of a broader update to simplify how users share visual content on the platform.

The company will remove length and format restrictions for Reels, allowing users to upload short, long, and live videos under the same format. The Video tab on Facebook will also be renamed to the Reels tab.

Users will be asked to confirm or update their audience settings if their current settings differ between feed posts and Reels. Meta said the update will include access to more creative tools.

Videos uploaded before the change will remain in their current format. The update will roll out gradually worldwide to both profiles and pages over the next few months.
