The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will dispatch a five-member mission to Pakistan from July 30 to August 6, 2025, to conduct a macroeconomic review of the country’s economic situation.
According to a news report, the mission, organised by JICA’s Tokyo headquarters, will engage with local authorities, International Financial Institutions (IFIs), and the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI).
The team will include Tsuji Kensuke, Deputy Director General at JICA, along with economists Tanaka Tomoaki, Dr. Ono Saori, and Dr. Ishi Shogo. They will hold discussions with officials from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), National Bank of Pakistan, Habib Bank Limited, and Standard Chartered Bank, among others.
Additionally, meetings are scheduled with key figures from the Ministry of Planning, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the World Bank, and several other government and private sector representatives.
The objective is to assess Pakistan’s current macroeconomic conditions and monitor progress in various sectors. The visit comes as JICA marks 70 years of its Official Development Assistance (ODA) to Pakistan.
