SBP BSC and UN Women Pakistan sign MoU to enhance financial inclusion and promote women’s empowerment

Partnership aims to improve access to finance and financial literacy for women in Pakistan

The State Bank of Pakistan, Banking Service Corporation (SBP BSC), and UN Women Pakistan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance financial inclusion, literacy, and access to finance, focusing on women’s empowerment and gender equality.

The signing ceremony, held in Karachi, was attended by Mr. Maraj Mahmood, Managing Director of SBP BSC, and Mr. Jamshed Kazi, Country Representative of UN Women Pakistan.

The partnership aims to create pathways for women to access financial services, build resilience, and contribute to sustainable economic growth. It also seeks to address barriers to women’s financial inclusion by promoting innovative solutions and expanding access to finance in underserved regions.

Key areas of cooperation include organizing seminars, capacity-building programs, and collaborative research. The MoU also aims to promote the adoption of digital financial services and expand opportunities for women’s economic empowerment.

This collaboration aligns with UN Women’s efforts to advance gender equality and Pakistan’s national commitments to gender equality.
