PTA rolls out free 120-day mobile registration system for overseas Pakistanis and foreign visitors

New digital initiative ensures uninterrupted connectivity during travel, offering device registration without cost or paperwork

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has introduced a Temporary Mobile Registration System aimed at making mobile device registration more convenient for overseas Pakistanis and foreign nationals visiting the country.

According to a news release issued by PTA, the system allows temporary visitors to register their personal mobile phones for a period of up to 120 days during each visit to Pakistan. This initiative comes in response to the common difficulties that travelers face in staying connected, particularly with local mobile networks.

The new system is part of PTA’s wider efforts to support seamless digital experiences in Pakistan. The entire process is completely free of cost, fully digitized, and accessible online through the Device Registration System (DRS) portal. Visitors can now register their phones without needing to visit a government office or go through a lengthy manual procedure.

By making mobile registration easier and more accessible, PTA is ensuring that travelers enjoy uninterrupted mobile connectivity throughout their stay, whether it’s for making local calls, using mobile data, or staying in touch with family and work back home.

PTA reaffirmed its commitment to delivering innovative, inclusive, and efficient digital services that center user convenience. The authority added that systems like these are essential in promoting a more connected Pakistan and improving the experience for international travelers and diaspora members alike.

With this move, PTA is not only addressing practical connectivity issues but also strengthening the country’s digital infrastructure by aligning public services with modern expectations of accessibility and ease.
