ECC approves Rs2.5 billion grant for Pakistan Maritime Science and Technology Park

Committee also clears technical grants for FWO overdraft settlement, ECP elections, and helicopter maintenance

The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet on Friday approved a grant of Rs2.5 billion for establishing the Pakistan Maritime Science and Technology Park under the Pakistan Navy, according to a statement from the Finance Division.

The meeting, chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, also approved a technical supplementary grant (TSG) equivalent to AED 45 million in rupee cover for the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO). 

The funds will be used to settle an overdraft facility availed by the FWO for its overseas construction operations in the United Arab Emirates. Both proposals were presented by the Defence Division.

The ECC also approved several other requests for technical supplementary grants. The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) received approval for Rs455.984 million to meet expenses related to local government elections during FY2025–26.

Additionally, the Finance Division’s request for Rs112.118 million to install individual electricity meters in the Pakistan Mint Residential Colony was approved.

The Ministry of Interior and Narcotics Control also secured ECC approval for Rs21.5 million to procure spare parts for helicopter maintenance at the Headquarters of Pakistan Rangers (Punjab) during the current fiscal year.
