Datang Pakistan Karachi Power Generation (Pvt) Limited (DPKPG) a subsidiary of China Datang Corporation has submitted an application to National Electric Power Regulator Authority (NEPRA) for power generation license for its 700 MW coal-fired thermal power plant.
Sources told APP here that the company would setup two unit each of 350 MW at Port Qasim to generate 700 MW electricity.
Important sub-bituminous coal would be utilized and power
would be supply to K-Electric Limited (KE).
The project would cost $967.234 million and its expected
commercial operation date is December 2020.
KE has also issued the Letter of Intent (LOI) to the company
on May, 30, 2016 while the letter of evacuation for the evacuation
of power from the project on June 7, 2016.
The entire power generated by the project will be sold to KE
for 30 years from the commercial operations date.
The KE has undertaken a $ 400 million transmission project
“TP-1000” to evacuate power from the project adding that the
construction has also already started.
