PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approved the establishment of its first-ever ‘Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Transmission & Grid Company (KPTGC)’ to address the issues being faced in the provincial power distribution system.
After the establishment of its own transmission and distribution network, the province would be able to distribute energy in an efficient manner.
This landmark decision was made during provincial cabinet’s meeting held recently under the chairmanship of KP Chief Minister Mehmood Khan. Adviser to CM on Energy Himayatullah Khan was also present on the occasion.
In his media statement, Adviser Himayatullah lauded the services of KP Power Secretary Zubair Khan and his team members, including Engr Naeem Khan and Engr Amin Khalil, for their concerted efforts towards the establishment of the province’s first-ever transmission and grid company.
“Now, with its own transmission company, the province will able to distribute electricity either to the national grid or to the industrial sector.”
He stated that KP possessed abundant of energy resources, utilisation of which could help the province produce cheap hydropower energy up to 30,000MW.
“At present, KP is supplying 162MW hydropower energy to the national grid from its own resources, earning billions of rupees annually. In the coming two years, 214MW electricity would be further added to the national grid, besides completion of five hydropower projects,” he added.
Himayat reiterated that the landmark decision of the KP government regarding the establishment of KPTGC would not only strengthen the province’s economic position but would also promote industrialization.
It’s a good steps but need to regulate how dispatch will be controlled at present Npcc is controlling at national level who will ensure stability reliability uninterrupted power suplly to consumers and mechanisum to generate revenew with all cutoff point
Transmission and grid functions in KP are already being performed by NTDC for 220 kV and above, whereas 132 kV and below is looked after by PESCO. Which other system will be handled by KPTGC? Majority of KP owned hydropower projects will be interconnected with existing system through 132 kV. So “Ganji Nahay Gi Kiya Aur Nachory Gi Kia”.
It appears that Energy Advisor to CM KP, an ex bureaucrat, is in fact misadvising him as per his practice on previous assignments in WAPDA and NEPRA.
Know Engr. Amin Khalil who is a very competent hydropower engineer with lot of outstanding knowledge and experience in WAPDA Hydel wing.
