Cabinet approves appointment of SNGPL directors, SME Bank president

ISLAMABAD: The Federal cabinet on Tuesday approved the appointment of 11 Board of Directors (BoD) of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and also the appointment of Dilshad Ali as President SME Bank.

The Petroleum Division, in its summary to the cabinet, proposed Rohi Khan and Rizwan Ullah as SNGL chairperson and nominated Dr Sohail Razi Khan to contest the elections of the board of SNGPL on behalf of the government. 

According to documents, in order to improve the winter load management, the federal cabinet reconstituted the BODs of SNGPL on April 5, 2019 for the remaining statutory period of the board. 

The tenure of the BoDs of SNGPL is set to expire on June 20, 2020, whereas the elections for directors of the company are scheduled to be held on June23 , 2020.

Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) is a public sector limited company under the administrative control of the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division). 

In another summary of the Ministry of Finance regarding the appointment of President of SME Bank Limited, the federal cabinet also approved the appointment of Dilshad Ali Ahmed as President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of SME Bank Limited.

Dilshad Ali Ahmed had previously worked as Senior Executive Vice President (SEVP), SME Bank. He was also appointed as the acting president of SME Bank.
