ISLAMABAD: Minister for Industries and Production, Rana Tanveer Hussain, announced on Wednesday that the government’s comprehensive Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy will be revealed by the end of November. The policy aims to boost the adoption of electric vehicles across Pakistan, as reported by Radio Pakistan.
Speaking to the media in Islamabad, Minister Tanveer highlighted that the initiative aligns with the vision of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to introduce and expand electric vehicles in the country.
The minister noted that some local manufacturers are already producing electric two- and three-wheelers, with the latter also being exported to international markets.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the government has allocated $4 billion in funding to support the EV sector. This will include subsidies for two-wheeled electric vehicles to make them more accessible to the public.
Additionally, Tanveer Hussain revealed that 100 electric bikes would be distributed free of charge to top students across the country, recognizing their academic achievements.
In a bid to expand EV infrastructure, the government plans to establish 40 electric vehicle charging stations along motorways and an additional 300 stations along highways and other key locations.
