K-Electric Limited (KE) has informed the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) about a major decision by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) regarding its Multi-Year Tariff (MYT) determination.
The decision, which impacts KE’s Generation Power Plants, Transmission, Distribution, and Supply businesses for the period FY 2024–2030, includes significant revisions to previously announced tariff rates.
In a notice to the exchange, KE confirmed that NEPRA’s decision on the tariff rate for the period had drastically altered its previous stance. The average tariff previously set at PKR 39.97 per kWh in May 2025 has now been reduced to PKR 32.37 per kWh, representing a significant decrease.
NEPRA also maintained its earlier decision regarding KE’s write-off claims for MYT 2017–2023, but the revised decisions on the tariff rates, investment plans, and losses assessment could have substantial consequences for KE and its stakeholders, including consumers.
KE is currently reviewing the detailed decision and exploring the available remedies under applicable laws and regulations. The company noted that the decision could have far-reaching impacts on its business operations and consumer relations.
KE emphasized that it is fully committed to exercising its legal options in response to the revised decisions, which it deems unsustainable for its business model.
