ISLAMABAD — Attock Petroleum Limited has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Huawei Technologies Pakistan Pvt. Ltd. and AE Power to jointly develop electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure across Pakistan.
The MoU, signed last week at Huawei’s Islamabad office, outlines the collaboration between the three organizations to establish EV charging stations and promote electric mobility in the country.
This partnership is set to support national efforts to reduce carbon emissions and strengthen clean energy initiatives, contributing to a sustainable, energy-efficient transportation ecosystem.
Pakistan’s EV infrastructure has gained momentum in recent years, with over 3,800 investors and companies expressing interest in setting up charging stations. More than 70 licenses have been issued, and several stations are already operational.
The National Electric Vehicle Policy (2025–2030) aims to establish 10,000 EV charging stations by 2030, with tariff reductions of up to 44% to attract investment.
Several provinces, including Punjab and Sindh, have launched initiatives to expand the EV network, with Punjab proposing 2,000 charging stations and 600 electric buses, and Sindh planning charging stations every 50 kilometers on major routes.
The fastest 120 kW EV charging station in Pakistan, recently inaugurated in Islamabad, can charge vehicles within an hour. The partnership between Attock Petroleum, Huawei, and AE Power is expected to further accelerate the development of the country’s EV infrastructure.
