Working committee seeks Rs1 billion funding to launch Air Punjab

Province moves forward with airline project to an advanced stage; five aircraft to be leased in initial phase

The Punjab government’s plan to launch its own airline, Air Punjab, has entered an advanced stage, with key administrative and financial steps now in progress to operationalise the province’s first air carrier.

According to officials, the project’s working committee has formally requested Rs1 billion in funding from the provincial finance department, marking a major development toward the airline’s establishment.

The government had earlier approved the creation of Air Punjab to enhance regional connectivity and support domestic air transport. Officials confirmed that five aircraft will be leased in the initial phase of operations once the required funds are released.
