66th meeting of Standing Committee on Planning, Development and Reform held

ISLAMABAD: The 66th meeting of the Standing Committee on Planning, Development and Reform was held under the Chairmanship of MNA Abdul Majeed Khan Khanankhail. The committee considered the issue of transfer of land for the establishment of the University of Thal, Kallur Kot, District Bahakkar and establishment of 132 KV grid station at Kallur Kot.

DCO, District Bhakkar assured the committee that the land would be transferred to Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESC) for the establishment of 132 KV grid station at Kallur Kot and land will also be transferred to the Higher Education Commission (HEC) for the establishment of University of Thal, Kallur Kot, District Bhakkar within a month.

The committee considered the issue of construction of a bridge on River Indus connecting Kallur Kot with D.I. Khan. A representative of National Highway Authority (NHA) assured the committee that the contractor might be mobilised after fulfilling formalities of the contract.

The committee recommended that the central route of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) might be finalised for the sake of progress of backward areas of South Punjab. It was also pointed out that the central route will be the shortest possible route for CPEC.

MNAs including Malik Ibrar Ahmed, Asma Mamdot, Junaid Akbar, Shaheen Shafiq and Iftikhar ud Din attended the meeting. Senior officers from the Ministry of Planning, Development and Reforms also attended the meeting.
