Pakistan’s top executives, govt, discuss growth, investment & technology

The conference included C-Level executives from local and international organisations, and the government.

LAHORE: ACCA Pakistan in collaboration with the British High Commission Islamabad and Emerging Pakistan held the Pakistan Leadership Conference 2019 on Wednesday at the Avari Hotel, Lahore.

Pakistan Leadership Conversation (PLC) is a series of conferences that brings together prominent thought leaders from the public and private sectors and engage them in thought-provoking and future-focused conversations that aim to shape the future of society and economy in Pakistan.

The conference in Lahore focused on economic drivers and key areas of growth such as usage of technology, public-private partnership, and need for regulation.

The main themes of the conference involved the Belt & Road Initiative and the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) – Connecting 4.4 billion people and what it means for Pakistan; Pakistan, preferred destination for off-shore outsourcing?; Institutional Reforms, Ease of doing business / Global Competitiveness Index Investment drivers?; Business models of the future – Convergence of Emotional Intelligence and Artificial Intelligence; and Taxation, Cross Border Payments, Contract Enforcement, and being ready for the e-commerce wave.

Top executives from local and international private organisations as well as senior representatives from the government joined in the discussions on Wednesday.

The conference features influential business leaders at the top of their profession and brings together hundreds of business professionals from across the country.

With an evolving business environment bringing a range of new challenges, the primary theme of this year’s leadership conference is ‘Strategic business leaders | Capacity and character’ to rethink and redefine the role of business leaders of the future.

The conference held in Lahore will be followed by another such conference in Islamabad where the expected speakers include Finance Minister of Pakistan Asad Umar, Telenor Pakistan CEO, Irfan Wahab Khan, and Ignite Technology Fund (NIC Pakistan) CEO Yusuf Hussain.
