Supreme Court orders TCA to stop unauthorised projects

The Karachi registry of Supreme Court headed by Justice Amir Hani Muslim has asked Thar Coal Authority (TCA) to refrain from infiltrating in other departments’ jurisdiction and ordered it to halt all projects that are being implemented the unauthorised mandate. The Supreme Court also advised TCA to limit its operations to the discovery of coal, processing, and mining. The remaining projects must be returned and to the relevant departments for implementation.
The verdict had been passed after hearing a case relating to illegal recruitment in Thar Coal Authority. The three-member bench strongly objected to the promotion of former Director General of TCA Danish Saeed to secretary level within a short span of 10 years.
Moreover, the court ordered the Sindh Chief Secretary to submit a report regarding the illegalities in the execution of projects being undertaken by TCA.
The TCA had been working on projects pertaining to road construction, airport building and water supply which will now be passed onto their relevant departments.
