Exporters advised to register with REX system to keep availing EU’s GSP+ facility

Karachi: Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Vice-President Irfan Ahmed Sarwana on Tuesday at a seminar urged exporters to register themselves with the Registered Exporter System (REX) by the end of 2017.

Sarwana said that in order to continue using the European Union’s (EU) GSP+ facility, it would be mandatory for exporters to get themselves registered with REX by the end of this year. The implementation of REX would permit exporters to release their own statement of origin.

Once exporters get registered with REX, they wouldn’t be needing a certificate of origin from Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP).  This is said to be a one-time registration under REX and the exporter would then be solely responsible for issuance of their statement of origin.

Pakistan has to comply with this regulation of the EU and has to implement this REX system by the end of 2017.
