Establishment Division proposes PAS officer for TDAP secretary’s position

Officers from the commerce and trade group remain ignored

ISLAMABAD: Instead of proposing the name of a Civil Superior Services (CSS) officer from the commerce and trade group, the Establishment Division has requested the Federal Cabinet to appoint an officer from the Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS) as the secretary of Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP).

According to documents, the Commerce Division had recommended the names of Trade Minister Moscow Nasir Hashami and Ahsan Ali Mangi, who is currently posted in PAS as the Chairperson of Sindh Chief Minister’s Inspection, Enquiries and Implementation Team.

“The Establishment Division proposes that Ahsan Ali Mangi may be transferred and posted as Secretary TDAP Karachi under Commerce Division,” the document added.

Critics of the decision while talking to Profit highlighted that TDAP being a trade promotion body should have more officers from the commerce and trade group rather than having officers from PAS who at times lack experience and understanding of trade and economy related issues.
