Pakistan and Bahrain have agreed to expand bilateral cooperation in key areas, including counter-terrorism, anti-narcotics, and immigration matters. The agreement was made during a meeting between Pakistan’s Interior Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, and Bahrain’s Interior Minister, General Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, in Islamabad.
Minister Naqvi emphasized the importance of combating narcotics, highlighting it as a critical issue affecting future generations. He commended Pakistan’s Anti-Narcotics Force for its efforts, which have resulted in the recovery of narcotics worth $146 million, despite limited resources.
Bahrain’s Interior Minister expressed the country’s desire to further strengthen ties with Pakistan and underscored the importance of a joint working group to formalize cooperation. Both sides agreed on the need to move forward with the signing of memoranda of understanding (MoUs) to enhance collaboration in areas such as counter-narcotics, extradition, mutual legal assistance, and police and special battalion training.
Delegation-level talks also focused on various ways to deepen bilateral ties and institutionalize cooperation in these critical sectors.
