Pakistan set to introduce comprehensive Tractor Policy to boost agriculture and industrial growth

Policy aims to enhance exports, tackle industry challenges, and support farmers' productivity

A comprehensive Tractor Policy is set to be introduced in Pakistan as part of the government’s broader strategy to foster industrial growth, following the finalization of the Industrial Policy. The new policy aims to address regulatory duties, improve exports, and address the challenges facing the tractor industry, which plays a crucial role in Pakistan’s agriculture sector.

In a recent meeting between Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Finance, Mr. Haroon Akhtar Khan, and the CEO of Millat Tractors, policy development and the sustainability of the industry were discussed. Mr. Khan emphasized the government’s commitment to creating a policy that includes input from all stakeholders to ensure its effectiveness and inclusivity.

He stressed the importance of the tractor industry in supporting farmers and enhancing agricultural productivity, stating that the policy would align with international best practices. Mr. Khan highlighted the need for a long-term framework as a sustainable solution to the sector’s challenges. This initiative is part of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision for a new industrial revolution in Pakistan.
