Pakistan and Egypt have agreed to broaden collaboration in the maritime and industrial sectors, setting the stage for new joint ventures and initiatives aimed at strengthening their blue economies.
The understanding was reached during a meeting on Wednesday between Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry and Egypt’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr. Ihab Mohamed Abdelhamid Hassan.
During the talks, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing economic and maritime cooperation, with discussions covering potential partnerships in port development, shipping, logistics, and industrial projects. The dialogue also focused on leveraging the blue economy as a driver of sustainable growth and regional trade.
Minister Junaid Chaudhry emphasized Pakistan’s determination to improve regional connectivity through a strengthened network of roads, railways, and sea routes.
“We are working hard to establish stronger links with Central Asian states and East African countries, and we can further enhance maritime connectivity with Egypt,” he said.
Outlining Pakistan’s broader economic diplomacy goals, the minister proposed establishing ‘Pakistan Houses’ in Africa, Central Asia, and Egypt to promote trade, investment, and business partnerships. He also noted that Pakistan would welcome similar centers from other countries to deepen mutual collaboration.
Ambassador Dr. Ihab Mohamed Abdelhamid Hassan appreciated Pakistan’s initiatives and said Egypt was ready to share its expertise in maritime management, particularly in operating the Suez Canal’s free zones. He offered Egypt’s support for developing similar frameworks and joint ventures within Pakistan’s maritime sector.
The envoy also commended the quality and competitiveness of Pakistani exports, including spices, pharmaceuticals, leather goods, wooden crafts, and rice, expressing optimism that bilateral trade would continue to expand across diverse sectors.
Both sides concluded that closer cooperation in maritime and industrial development would not only strengthen Pakistan–Egypt relations but also promote regional integration across Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.
