FBR to begin electronic monitoring of textile spinning units from November 1

Production of registered mills to be tracked through video analytics under Sales Tax Rules

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has announced that it will begin electronic monitoring of production in registered textile spinning units through video analytics starting November 1.

According to S.R.O. 1963 (I)/2025, the FBR has exercised its powers under sub-section (1) of Section 50 and Section 40C of the Sales Tax Act, 1990, to implement the monitoring mechanism. 

The move will be carried out in accordance with Rule 150ZQR of Chapter XIV-BA of the Sales Tax Rules, 2006.

The notification states that the system will enable electronic surveillance of textile spinning production, ensuring compliance and transparency in the reporting of taxable activity. The measure will take effect from November 1, 2025.
