ISLAMABAD, Oct 20 — Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was briefed on Monday about the establishment of the Womenpreneurship Platform, an initiative aimed at empowering women in the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) sector. The platform, set to be based on artificial intelligence, will provide comprehensive business-related information, assist with registrations, tax matters, and raise awareness about necessary skills for women entrepreneurs.
The development came during a meeting on the reorganization of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) and the overall growth of SMEs, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). Prime Minister Sharif emphasized the importance of increasing awareness about the initiative, recognizing the efforts to promote women’s involvement in the SME sector.
Additionally, the meeting revealed that new offices for SME development have been opened in Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, receiving positive feedback from the public and local chambers.
SMEDA has also formed a board of private sector experts and is in the process of finalizing the appointment of a new Chief Executive Officer. The prime minister expressed satisfaction with the progress of SMEDA’s reorganization, urging that a clear timeline be set for its implementation and execution.
