Pakistan invites global partners to invest in energy transition, critical minerals sector

Energy minister highlights Pakistan’s renewable energy goals and untapped mineral reserves at International Mining and Resources Conference 2025 in Sydney

Federal Minister for Energy (Petroleum Division) Ali Pervaiz Malik highlighted Pakistan’s renewable energy potential and critical minerals development opportunities during his keynote address at the International Mining and Resources Conference (IMARC) 2025 in Sydney.

Speaking on the theme “Pakistan’s Energy Transition and Critical Minerals Development: Unlocking New Frontiers for Global Partnership,” Malik underscored the government’s commitment to building a low-carbon, climate-resilient economy.

He said Pakistan aims to align its mineral development strategy with environmental responsibility, balancing economic growth with sustainability.

The minister pointed out that while Pakistan contributes less than one percent to global greenhouse gas emissions, it remains among the countries most severely affected by climate change. He said the transition toward cleaner energy sources is essential for the country’s long-term economic stability, water security, and climate resilience.

Ali Pervaiz Malik invited global investors to collaborate with Pakistan in its energy transformation, noting that the government had undertaken investor-friendly reforms and established clear policy frameworks to attract sustainable investment.

He said the country’s renewable energy targets, along with significant reserves of critical minerals such as copper, lithium, and rare earth elements, offer promising opportunities for international partners.

On the sidelines of the conference, Malik met with the Director General (Minerals) of the Government of Western Australia, who briefed him on the mining sector’s contribution to Australia’s economy.

During the meeting, the minister invited Australian companies to explore investment opportunities in Pakistan’s mining and energy sectors.

He reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to strengthen global cooperation in resource development, positioning the country as a reliable partner in advancing clean energy and sustainable industrial growth.
