The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) on Tuesday approved two major road projects and the revised Balochistan Livelihood and Internship Project to enhance connectivity and development in the province.
The approval includes the construction of a 103-kilometre road from Zhob to Mukhtar Barsta Murgha Kabza and a 105-kilometre road from Duki to Chamalang.
The meeting, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar via video link, was attended by Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal, Balochistan’s Minister for Irrigation Mir Muhammad Sadiq Umrani, and other senior officials.
The committee also reviewed progress, expenditure, and challenges in ongoing development projects across provinces. Officials briefed participants on the Balochistan education initiative titled “Access and Distribution of Quality Education,” which aims to improve early childhood and primary education through public-private partnerships and emergency response mechanisms.
The five-year project seeks to raise literacy levels in Balochistan by providing access to quality education. Ecnec directed the concerned departments to ensure timely completion of approved projects and maintain quality standards in all development works.
