Pakistan, Australia explore new energy and mining partnerships at IMARC 2025

Federal Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik, NSW’s Penny Sharpe discuss renewable energy, mineral development, and climate resilience in Sydney meeting

Pakistan and Australia have agreed to strengthen collaboration in renewable energy, resource management, and sustainable development, as Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik met with Penny Sharpe, Minister for Climate Change, Energy, Environment and Heritage of New South Wales (NSW), in Sydney.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the International Mining and Resources Conference (IMARC) 2025, where both sides discussed expanding cooperation in the energy and resources sectors, particularly in solar technology, energy transition, and climate resilience.

Minister Malik reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to advancing green and sustainable energy solutions, noting that the country seeks mutually beneficial partnerships and technology exchange to enhance energy efficiency and build resilience against climate-related disasters.

The discussion also highlighted opportunities in Pakistan’s growing mineral sector, inviting Australian firms — both large and small — to invest and share technical expertise to support capacity building.

Both ministers agreed that closer cooperation in renewable energy and resource development could contribute significantly to addressing shared climate challenges while promoting long-term economic growth.

Officials described the engagement as an important step toward deepening Pakistan–Australia ties in energy transition, environmental protection, and sustainable resource development.
