Patchamuthu Illangovan apprises Miftah Ismail regarding agreements worth $305m

ISLAMABAD: World Bank (WB) Country Director Patchamuthu Illangovan appraised Adviser to Prime Minister on Finance Miftah Ismail about agreements worth $305 million in a meeting here on Friday.

The agreements are aimed at supporting projects in Punjab’s agriculture sector and improving the nutrition status of children and women in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK).

The country director apprised the adviser of the various recent initiatives of the WB and discussed the up-coming projects likely to be implemented in the near future.  Illangovan reiterated WB’s resolve to keep up support for continuing the process of reforms by the Pakistan government which in the last four and half years has greatly helped the country achieve macroeconomic stability.

Miftah Ismail appreciated WB for extending its continuous support to the government of Pakistan in its efforts to achieve sustainable economic development in the country.

Finance secretary also participated in the meeting.
