ISLAMABAD: Up to 125,000 franchises of Pakistan Post would be built across the country this year as a part of a development programme, said Postal Services Minister Murad Saeed on Sunday.
“These franchises will help create employment for young people from all parts of the country and eventually will boost businesses,” he added.
The minister said the post offices would be updated with the modern equipment to facilitate people.
“A home delivery service will be launched from the offices to deliver essential household items at home.”
A 24-hour service would be initiated through which facilities such as payment of bills, delivery of parcels, collection of remittances and e-commerce would be provided.
“Around 200,000 to 300,000 people would be employed under the development programme,” Saeed said, adding electric rickshaws and bikes would also be provided.
Another aim of the programme was to enable businessmen in rural areas to reach customers in urban regions and expand their businesses, the minister maintained.
