ADB approves $2 million to support combating coronavirus

MANILA: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved two million dollars in funding to support efforts to curb spread of the coronavirus.

In a statement issued from Manila the other day, the bank said the funds would supplement ongoing regional technical assistance and strengthen response capacity in Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.

The number of deaths from China’s new coronavirus epidemic jumped to 722 on Saturday after another 86 people were reported dead from the virus. The Chinese Health Commission also confirmed another 3,399 new cases, with more than 34,500 confirmed infections across the country.
