Businessmen condemn Indian govt’s siege of occupied Kashmir

KARACHI: The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Businessmen Panel on Wednesday said that the federal cabinet’s decision to approve a new political map of Pakistan reflects the desire of the whole nation as well as the business community of the country.

Businessmen Panel Secretary General and FPCCI former standing committee chairman Chaudhary Ahmad Jawad said that the new map also includes Siachen as a part of Pakistan. “We are challenging India’s illegal occupation of Kashmir and claiming our right on the area through the map, he said.

On August 5 2019, India had revoked the special status or limited autonomy granted to Jammu and Kashmir under the Indian constitution.

Chaudhary Ahmad Jawad said that Kashmiris have unanimously rejected the illegal step taken by India during August last year.

He said that the incumbent government has effectively exposed the Hindutva policies of the Indian government and its human rights violations at the global fora.

Jawad has said the Indian government’s policy of hatred had threatened peace in the entire region. The Indian government wanted to change the demography of Kashmir, however, its attempts seem to be in vain, he said.

“The entire business community of Pakistan is also criticising the Indian government for illegally taking away the rights of the Indian minorities,” he added.

The Businessmen Panel secretary general also said that Kashmiris are writing a history of courage, bravery and determination with their continued grapple for freedom in the face of immense pain, disappointment and inaction.

Pakistan would raise its voice globally until the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir get their right to self-determination, he said.

He hailed the government’s decision to rename the Kashmir Highway, which connects the federal capital with Kashmir and other provinces, after Srinagar.

Jawad said that the Indian government is attempting to isolate Pakistan in the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) region through the SAARC trade body.

He said that India has started lobbying with other member countries to make the SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) dysfunctional since its presidency resides with Pakistan for the period of two years.
