Petrol, diesel prices slashed by Rs2 for April 2018

ISLAMABAD: The government on Saturday announced a reduction in prices of petrol and diesel by Rs2.07 and Rs2.00 per litre, respectively, for the month of April 2018. It has further decided to maintain the prices of Kerosene oil and Light Diesel Oil (LDO) at the same level as in the month of March.

Under the new prices, which will take effect from April 1, 2018, Motor Spirit (MS)92 RON Petrol will be sold at Rs86.00 per litre, Diesel (HSD) at Rs96.45.

Meanwhile, the prices of Kerosene and LDO are being maintained at the level as in March 2018 despite OGRA’s recommendation to increase rates. Kerosene Oil and LDO will be sold at Rs76.46 and at Rs65.30, respectively.

Earlier on Friday, Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) sent a detailed summary to the Finance Ministry and proposed a Rs5.26 per litre relief in prices of petroleum. The summary also proposed a Rs0.65 reduction in high-speed diesel, Rs0.13 in kerosene oil and Rs0.55 in light diesel oil.

OGRA had requested the ministry to fix the prices of petrol at Rs82.82, high-speed diesel at Rs99.10, Kerosene oil at Rs67.59 and light diesel at Rs65.85, given the burden on the public at large.

The new prices shall be effective from April 1, 2018, until midnight on April 30, 2018.
