KARACHI: The import duty on mobile phones has been increased by 15% to between 44-52 % on Friday.

According to a report, the Karachi Electronic Dealers Association said the general sales tax (GST), duties, levy and income tax rates on the import of mobile phones have been ratcheted up.

Also, a stipulation of Type Approval has also been enforced on the import of used mobile phones and according to KEDA President Muhammad Rizwan, this could result in government raising prices by as much as Rs20,000.
