FBR aiming for 4m tax returns by end of year

Income tax filers have increased by a whopping 35 percent since last year according number revealed by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

The FBR has said that up until now, they have received more than 2.34 million income tax returns, compared to the 1,7 million income tax returns they received last year.

According to media reports, sources in the FBR have claimed that they are expecting to receive up to 4 million income tax returns by December of this year – which they claim is an achievable target.

At the same time, the reports went on to detail how based on the returns filed so far, the FBR is also looking into a number of investigations. These include 1400 people in Karachi that own plazas and did not file returns despite 1200 NTNs being issued for the purpose.
