Export of readymade garments increases 13pc in five months

The export of readymade garments during the first five months (July-Nov) of FY20 increased by 13.19pc to $1.156 billion, as compared to $1.021 billion worth of exports during the same period of last year.

According to the latest data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, textile group exports from the country, during the period under review, increased by 4.68pc to $5.763 billion as against $5.506 billion during the corresponding period of last year.

Meanwhile, on a month-on-month basis, textile exports from the country grew by 7.03pc, from $1.099 billion in November 2018 to $1.177 billion in November 2019. However, the exports were down by 3.10pc when compared with the month of October 2019.

The export of knitwear fetched $1.320 billion during the five months of FY20 as compared to $1.215 billion in the same period of last year.

During the period under review, bedwear worth $1.013 billion was exported from the country, as against $968.151 million worth of exports during the same period of last year.

Furthermore, towels worth $317.484 million were exported during the period under review, as against the exports of $314.348 million in the same period of last year.
