Customs Peshawar seizes Rs154.9 million worth of smuggled cigarettes in first quarter 

Confiscations rise 60% as enforcement steps up crackdown on illicit trade

The Collectorate of Customs Enforcement Peshawar seized 18.275 million sticks of smuggled cigarettes worth Rs154.90 million during the first quarter of fiscal year 2025–26, marking a 60% increase in value compared to the same period last year.

According to a statement, the department had confiscated 14.114 million sticks valued at Rs97.04 million during the corresponding period of the previous year. The seizures were made as part of an intensified crackdown on smuggling under the directives of the Chief Collector of Customs (Enforcement).

Officials said the enforcement campaign successfully foiled several attempts to smuggle foreign-origin cigarettes into Pakistan. 

The operation reflects Pakistan Customs’ ongoing efforts to curb illicit trade, protect legitimate businesses, and safeguard national revenue.
