The government has increased regulatory duties on import of various electronic items to 20pc from 15pc in upcoming financial year 2017-18.
Electronic items including air conditioners, ceiling fans, pedestal fans, exhaust fans, vegetable juice extractors, microwave oven, electric irons, hair dryers, electric toasters, ovens, coffee/tea makers and cordless telephone sets has been raised from 15pc to 20pc for FY 2017-18. Equipment for receiving signals from satellite dishes has been increased from 15pc to 20pc for FY 2017-18. Also, wooden furniture and weapon imports have been slapped with 20pc regulatory duty from 10pc a year back.
Cosmetic items like perfumes, lipsticks, make-up, nail polish, talcum powder, shampoos, toothpastes, shaving creams, hair creams, face and skin creams will be slapped with a duty of 20pc from 15pc a year ago. Ceramics regulatory duty was also hiked up to 20pc from 15pc before and import of dinner sets, tea cups, ceramic tableware and dishes have seen their regulatory duty increase to 20pc too. Footwear, leather and sportswear jackets have seen the regulatory duty rise to 20pc from 10pc the year before.
