Pakistan elected as president of UN Commission on Investment, Enterprise of UNCTAD

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s permanent representative at the United Nations in Geneva Farukh Amil has been elected as President of Commission on Investment, Enterprise and Development of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).

The election took place at the 9th annual session of the Commission in Geneva. Foreign Office has described Pakistan’s election to lead the C on Investment as a reflection of international community’s recognition of the country’s role as an important player in a multilateral foray on trade and development.

Pakistan’s presidency and active participation at the forum will provide an opportunity to share experiences as well as learn best practices to help improve the investment climate in the country.

Pakistan is set to assume the chairmanship of the group of 77 and China in Geneva for 2018 due to its role in the United Nations development machinery.
