Surgical instruments, cutlery, chemicals July exports register decline

ISLAMABAD: Surgical goods and medical instruments worth US$28.548 million were exported during the first month of the ongoing financial year – witnessing a 4.96% decrease compared to the corresponding month last year when the figure stood at $30.000.
During the same period, the cutlery products export fetched US$6.940 million in July, 6.41% lower than US$7.415 million for the same month last fiscal. According to the data released by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, chemicals and pharmaceutical products worth US$80.601 million exported, against US$86.528 last year.
Pakistan’s pharmaceutical products exports too saw a fall, to US$16.397 million from US$19.621 in 2017-18. During the period under review, 657 metric tons of pharmaceutical products exported as compared the 959 metric tons of same period of last year.
Other chemicals raked in US$43.111 million – also lower by a million and a half the previous year, the exact figure being US$44.600 million.
