Swiss companies keen to establish businesses in Pakistan

  • Swiss official says initiatives of new govt in Pakistan have created a positive sentiment among foreign investors

ISLAMABAD: Many Swiss companies are engaged in business activities across Pakistan while more are interested to explore the country as they consider Pakistan a potential market for business activities.

Switzerland Embassy’s Deputy Head of Mission Bernhard Furger said this during an interaction with the local business community at the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Furger was accompanied by Switzerland Global Enterprise South Asia Senior Consultant Beat Ineichen. Switzerland Global Enterprise is an umbrella organisation of Switzerland that promotes the Swiss exports and facilitates joint ventures of the Swiss companies with other countries.

Speaking on the occasion, Beat Ineichen said that the western media was not projecting a good image of Pakistan while things here were much better. He said that he wanted to bring more Swiss companies to Pakistan so that they could see the real potential of the country and explore business partnerships.

He said the initiatives of the new government in Pakistan have created a positive sentiment among foreign investors.

“In the first phase, the companies are looking for potential Pakistani partners to enhance exports, while in the second phase, they could come to Pakistan to invest in the promising sectors of the country’s economy,” he added.

He said that the advanced technology, expertise and knowledge of Switzerland would benefit Pakistan, especially its small and medium enterprises, adding that the purpose of his visit was to study Pakistan’s market for partnerships and investment.
