Ecommerce site Daraz recently announced that its mission was to establish itself as an entertainment platform in 2020.
Daraz Express (DEX) – the logistics arm of Daraz – claimed to have delivered 7.1 million packages till November 2019. With a delivery team of 1,500 and presence in more than 20 cities, it claimed to have reduced the delivery time by 1-2 days on average.
For 2020, Daraz said that its priority would be to scale express deliveries to fulfil customer orders within 24 hours. Express delivery is already available as part of Fulfilled by Daraz – a premium service complemented by Daraz’ 4 warehouses located in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad – and the aim for 2020 is to increase the number of products that fall within this category.
The announcement said that Daraz now wants to redefine itself as not just a digital shopping avenue but as an entertainment platform through its DarazMall platform which according to them provides “online shoppertainment” in Pakistan and has brought customers engaging and interactive experiences during mega campaigns such as 11.11 and 12.12 by utilizing features such as Shake Shake and in-app gamification.
In 2019, the company claims to have witnessed a 100pc increase in the number of active users visiting the platform and a 140pc increase in customers shopping on the platform.
