Caretakers keep petrol, diesel prices unchanged

The prices of kerosene oil and light-diesel oil have been reduced by Rs3.82 and Rs3.4 per liter, respectively, bringing them down to Rs211.03 and Rs189.46 per liter.

The interim government has kept the rates of petrol and High-Speed Diesel (HSD) unchanged for the next fortnightly, while slightly slashing prices of kerosene oil and light-diesel oil.

According to a notification from the Ministry of Finance, petrol will remain at Rs283.38 per liter, and HSD will stay at Rs303.18 per liter.

However, the prices of kerosene oil and light-diesel oil have been reduced by Rs3.82 and Rs3.4 per liter, respectively, bringing them down to Rs211.03 and Rs189.46 per liter.

This decision is in contrast to earlier expectations of a significant reduction in prices of petroleum products, with official sources suggesting the possibility of a decrease of Rs5-6 per liter for diesel and Rs18 per liter for petrol.

On October 16, the caretaker government had reduced petrol prices by Rs40 per liter and diesel prices by Rs15 per liter.
